Collagraph Workshops 2025

Traditional Collagraph Printing Workshops

I have been teaching Collagraph hand pulled printing for over 15 years. These workshops are for everyone ( aged from 16 upwards ) – experienced students and those new to Collagraph printing.
Many of my students come back each year for these creative workshops in which we all create a wonderful atmosphere of learning and experiencing this exciting form of hand pulled printing. Each season I bring to the workshops all the new techniques that I have developed since the last season’s workshops, often connected to my new book or yet to be taught to my students.
This keeps the experience of collagraph fresh to the students and to me. Even after all these years it is still an amazing art form which seems to endlessly deliver new mark making results – keeping me as fascinated as ever as I strive to think outside the box.

What you can expect

Day 1 – Plate making

All hand pulled printing starts with a printing plate – you will experience many different techniques from cutting, peeling back, melting to adhering many different types of textured components to add to your personal printing plate. I provide a comprehensive array of textured materials for the student to pore through and use) These plates are sealed overnight and left to dry.

Day 2 – Printing

Each student selects the colours they want and I demonstrate the inking up processes, explaining the many different ways to load your printing plate. The rest of the day is spent inking and printing using my traditional printing press. At the end of the day each student takes home up to 5 printed images printed on 300 gram Somerset paper, ready to be mounted and framed down the line.
When I am teaching I am determined to bring out the hidden potential in every student and to ensure each student goes away having achieved a beautiful hand pulled collagraph print they are proud enough to show to their friends and family.

Stitch into Print Workshop **COMING SOON**

I have been asked by many students to bring this unusual workshop back into my yearly programme. Each student will need to bring their own sewing machine to achieve the fine filigree printing plates – the trade mark of this unusual printing process.
If there is enough interest, I will hold another Stitch into Print workshop later in 2025
Please let me know if you would be interested by leaving me a message via the Contact page
